This was a party in Paddington for Australia Day, mate. It was shut down by the police around 7pm due to noise complaints aka YAWN. Science play a more confident and overall better set than their Boundary Hotel show a few weeks ago (which was also shut down early - damn this day n' age). Actually I thought they were really good this time round, check out the vidz.
SCIENCE
One guy's review on facebook: "lame party.. too many posers.. slash.. all posers.. wouldn't have a taste in music if they went down on it.. looked ridiculous"

DICK DIVER / KITCHEN'S FLOOR AT THE CLUBHOUSE 23-01-10
Not the biggest fan of that poster but whatever. This was Dick Diver's first show in Brisbane and one of the last Clubhouse shows to be held at The Empire Hotel. It was a pretty fun night besides some sound problems and the lights in the venue not working for the duration of Sleepwalk's set. My camera doesn't have 'night mode' so I couldn't film them but they put on a great show and uh, sorry 'bout that but check them out won't you?
DICK DIVER
I enjoyed this set a lot, especially the extended instrumental bits. Apologies for the muddy sound, I'm not the smartest guy and filmed up front while leaning on the speaker. Idiot.
KITCHEN'S FLOOR
Thanks to Noob for filming this for me. Myspace.

UNIQUE BEAUTIFUL FLOWERS AT THE BOUNDARY HOTEL 16-01-10
This was a fundraiser for new art/music label Unique Beautiful Flowers. It was shut down early due to complaints from regular Boundary patrons who were a bit weirded out by it all. A damn shame because a lot of bands didn't get to play. Here's what I managed to film:
EXTRAFOXX
Conwae Burrell is the man behind Extrafoxx and besides being a master of the downer pop song, is a Brisbane legend. His album "The Saddest" has just been released, featuring 35 tracks of depression fuelled triumph. Check it out.
SCIENCE
Science are a new band who haven't played many shows yet and ended this show by destroying shit (unfilmed). 2 piece bass/drums no wave/metal/post rock/whatever music. Pretty fun to watch.
CURED PINK
Formerly Cured Pink RADIO, tonight it's a one man show starring Andrew Mclellan. I think this is where the trouble with the venue started - brutal noise mixed with psychotic performance art aint appreciated at this pub, mate.
DISSAPOINTMENT RAY
Dissapointment Ray was a collaboration between Brisbane noise icons Joel Stern and Lloyd Barrett. Good thinkin' music.
Footage of Blank Realm might be up in the next few days. Might. Stupid camera.

ALPS / TIGER SAW / CASTANETS AT THE TROUBADOUR 2-01-10
It's been awhile since I've been to such an awkwardly laid back show where everybody sits cross legged on the ground politely clapping at the end of each mellowed out song and everything is nice but you're drunk, alone and surrounded by sickeningly cute couples which you react to by buying another $6 beer you can't really afford and heckle the local support band like a mean spirited jerk (Sorry Oh Ye Denver Birds). Despite being a drunk retard, it turned out to be an okay night.
ALPS OF NSW
I always enjoy an Alps show and it was good to see him play to a decent sized attentive crowd (in contrast to other shows I've seen in the past). Good set. Alps on Myspace.
TIGER SAW
I'd never heard of or seen this guy before but apparently he lives in a share house with the amazing EAT SKULL, I might have that wrong but if it's true that's pretty neat. Alps also provided vocals/keys on some songs. Tiger Saw on Myspace.
CASTANETS
Never heard of this guy either but it was pretty good, seemed genuine enough. Castanets on Myspace.
