THRILL HILL HOUSESHOW - 24 MARCH 2018

Poster by Heidi Cutlack
It's 2018 and the immortal Brisbane houseshow is back.  Red Hill and the inner west is where it's at.  This was a really nice show on a Saturday afternoon turned evening, with Karli White up from Melbourne along with Manners/Blend 42 From Outer Space/Glen Schenau/Brick Brick & Terorist.  Here is a pic of Glen:

And here is Brick Brick, a new band I'm drumming in with Heidi (Bent/Scaredy Snake) and Phoebe fkn BMX with a guest appearance from Tristan (Cannon/Manners). Our first show! In Heidi's laundry! This song is called Monsters:

This one is called House Show Song (working title):

You reckon we did a Placebo cover? Course we fkn did.

Karli White was fantastic, Manners were sublime, Blend 42 was from outer space and Terorist was Teroristic.

Courtesy to Glen for filming BRICK BRICK.

Party on you redundant blogspot travellers.

GLEN SCHENAU / PSY ANTS / GUTTERS / EXTRA FOXX AT LATROBE TCE. 3-07-10

What do you do when there's nothing happening on a weekend in your town? Rent out some DVD's and call it a quiet one? No damnit, you put on a show in your freaken house. ARGH.

GLEN SCHENAU

Glen Schenau - Per Purpose, Marl Carx, Kitchen's Floor. 'Comfortably awkward' acoustic set, enjoyable. Second video is a cover of the Beasts of Bourbon song 'The Day Marty Robbins Died'.

PSY ANTS

Formerly SCIENCE, the renamed PSY ANTS own tonight with a brutally doomed set of Brisbane proportions. One of my favourite live acts of this city.

GUTTERS

VIDEO + REVIEW REMOVED BY REQUEST

EXTRA FOXX

Extra Foxx brings the night to a laid back end with a lot of songs about winter. I guess it was cold.

NATIVE CATS / GLEN SCHENAU / DRUNK ELK IN HOBART 5-03-10

A few blocks walk from the city centre of Hobart is what's called the Winter Palace. It's a large old sharehouse with a revolving door of tenants and it's pretty much central to the Hobart music scene. The power went out mid show unfortunately but was hastily shifted to another house and all was won in Tasmania.

NATIVE CATS

I don't really feel smart enough to accurately describe Native Cats so I won't but some key words that come into my failing brain are "mind blowing" and "awesome".

Some trivia - their singer is also a stand up comedian. Who would have thunk?

GLEN SCHENAU

Glen Schenau of Per Purpose / Marl Carx / Kitchen's Floor fame finds time in his busy touring schedule to perform a solo acoustic set. First of it's kind and it's really good.

NOTE: AFTER GLEN'S SET IS WHEN THE BLACKOUT STRUCK. I HEARD IT WAS A POWER SURGE. I HEARD IT WAS A FAULT IN THE SYSTEM. WHATEVER IT WAS, THE FOLLOWING VIDEO OF DRUNK ELK WAS FILMED AT A NEW LOCATION LATER THAT NIGHT.

DRUNK ELK

Drunk Elk kind of sum up the idea of a band thriving in isolation. The new Tasmanian cult band = Drunk Elk. Get with it.
